Should I Get a Cold Air Intake

A lot of guys that don’t know much about gasoline engines, let alone modifying them, know that the more air you can get in and back out of the motor, the more horsepower it will make. Common sense tells you that this process can happen quicker if the air is able to pass through easier. Pertaining to automobiles, replacing the air filter is one of the things you do to regularly maintain the life of the engine.

Most auto manufacturers recommend you replace the air filter ever 10,000 miles or so to keep the air flowing freely, thus keeping your engine running smoothly. In fact, if you don’t replace your air filter regularly you will probably notice a decrease in both power and gas mileage. (more…)

Keep your car running smoothly through regular oil checks

Many drivers will tend to listen to the radio or music when they drive and so it can be difficult to spot any changes in engine noise, or hear if a strange sound develops. These changes can be telltale signs that there is something wrong with your car, sometimes if left unchecked these noises can lead to serious damage.

If the engine gets louder over time, this can point to the engine’s oil running low or needing replacing. It is pretty rare that a car will need its oil completely replacing, especially if it is relatively new. Oil will need topping up every now and then in order to make sure the engine doesn’t run dry and become inefficient. (more…)

The Durable and Long-lasting Radiator Parts now on sale at Parts Train are a simple and elegant solution

A small leak on your Radiator can be indicating a larger problem. A cooling system that runs low too often is less efficient and you can damage your cooling system by letting the coolant level get too low. Too little coolant flow can be bad, but at normal and high operating temperatures, the rate at which coolant moves through the radiator does not change the amount of heat that is dissipated by the cooling cores. The amount of cooling will not be reduced even when the mean temperature of the coolant rises and flows faster.

Many cheap coolants do not have the corrosion protection, pH balancing, or sediment prevention that the top-quality coolants do. These low quality coolants do not have the same additives of name brand coolants. To help your engine stay cooler, rev up your engine slightly when you are overheating in traffic to help push more air across the cooling cores and more coolant through the engine. (more…)
