The United Arab Emirates UAE seems to have economically made significant headway over the last 5 decades, and with their middle class expansion and the oil wealth it makes sense to develop local service businesses there. Not long ago, I was have this conversation with an acquaintance over coffee and WiFi Internet satellite system. You see, my acquaintance used to live in Manchester England and watched the mobile car washing industry expand there, and wants to take this service type business to Abu Dhabi.
Indeed, it has been amazing the growth in mobile “valet” throughout England, actually all of the UK. Of course there is adequate water supply in England whereas, water is a very important commodity in that area of the Middle East. So, he asks; “in terms of water supply, this is a topic of concern for a country with limited supply of fresh water seeing that it is a desert after all. There has been a lot of talk lately about the high usage of water at car washes lately.”
When it comes to mobile car washing it seems to be the same story everywhere in the world. Even in the US we have what we call “Level II” Drought, as it is Level I, II, and then III. When in level II they often shut down personal car washing and car washes or limit them if they do not recycle their water. In Kuwait it was mandatory to recycle and re-use all of it, or as much as possible which did not evaporate. Our units can was a car with 2.2 to 4.5 gallons of water per car (2.2 L per gallon).
My acquaintance tells me that water is such a precious commodity in Dubai, UAE that they are “now in the process of banning the use of water, where they will be using a new technology to clean cars without water. This is where I have further researched, and found a few companies which supply these products, and was willing to discuss how one would be able to use this type of technology” for a mobile car wash throughout the region and all of the UAE.
One potential way to make this happen would be to try a non-water wash. You see, there are many companies that offer “dry wash” type of cleaning, and some in Asia that make steam washers, using only a couple of cups of water per car, cleaning with high pressured steam, but that dulls the paint over time, and it still uses water. Many dry wash products use some water in the solution, but not much. Well, looks like Abu Dhabi is wide open for a smart and resourceful mobile car washing operator, please consider all this.
