A turbocharger or “turbo” is a gas compressor used for forced-induction of an internal combustion engine. The purpose of this part is to increase the density of air that enters the engine, thus creating more power. But that isn’t exactly the BMW Turbo we will be discussing. As a celebration for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, the E25 BMW turbo prototype was built. For this celebratory occasion, Paul Bracq, one of the world’s leading automotive designer/artists most known for the Mercedes-Benz 600, came up with a crafted, innovative design for a new BMW automobile, the BMW Turbo.
There were only two of these BMW Turbos every built. To this day, it is one of the rarest BMW’s, if not the rarest BMW out there. The BMW Turbo was custom made with gullwing doors, which are hinged to the ceiling of the car, and a super futuristic cockpit. On the interior of the Turbo there were a number of safety features and on the exterior, there was a super large window, and a proportionately balanced sloping front. Of course the BMW Turbo was powered by the 4-cylinder 1990cc turbocharged engine with 280 hp at 5200 rpm. 165 mph was its maximum speed. The BMW Turbo was BMW’s first mid-engined car. Its theme was later used as a design for the M1, the 8-Series, the Z1, as well as the 2008 M1 Homage Concept. (more…)

One of the most common questions we hear at car shows when we have clay bars displayed for sale is – “So that is clay – I’ve heard of it – How do you use it?”
When I hear that – I get excited. Not necessarily to sell someone a clay bar – but I love teaching people about detailing and sharing information. We like to keep things simple – and a clay bar is one of the easiest things to use, and is one of the most beneficial things you can do to maintain and bring out the richness, beauty and depth of your finish. A great racetrack can turn a town into a must see destination. If that town happens to combine motorsports and the weather of southern France, then you have Monaco. The town of Monaco is actual a small country of its own. It is most famous for decadent living and the race that occurs in the summer of every year. In June, the whole world watches as the most technologically advanced cars on the planet line up to race through the city on the same streets that were being walked on just days earlier. I have been to Monaco and can tell you that the city and the track are just the beginning of what is a spectacular city.
The best way to enter the city if from the west, this way you can come into the town from above and see the bay and the whole cityscape before you. Also, because you are coming into town this way, you will find many more parking areas. It is best to find the first parking garage away from the city center that you can. The whole city has a series of elevators that you can take instead of walking up and down thousands of stairs. This will save your feet for the journey ahead as you go to explore the track and the town itself. (more…)
